Summer doesn’t officially end until September 21, but Labour Day has always been the symbolic end of the carefree days of summer for most people. Summer vacation is over, students are back to school, everyone gets back to work and of course if you’re living in the Toronto area, that means watching things wrap up at the CNE.

How are you spending Labour Day weekend?

We polled 1000 parents of school age children, and asked them, “How are you spending Labour Day?” The majority of parents responding that they were going to be hanging out enjoying the last weekend of summer. 19.2 per cent were spending the weekend getting ready for the school year, while 10 per cent were going to be out shopping for last minute items. We’re jealous that a lucky 8.6 per cent were spending the last long weekend of summer at the cottage. 4.7 per cent of parents were hitting the road this weekend, moving themselves or their child to university.
